Postnatal Nurse Home Visit for Mother and Newborn Care
The service is provided by a specialized and trained postnatal nurse to care for the mother and newborn during the postpartum period (the first weeks after delivery). The service aims to support the mother’s recovery, promote the newborn’s health, and provide essential health education within the home. Mother Care: • Measurement of vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, and temperature). • Care of the delivery wound, including cleaning and changing dressings as needed. • Administration of injections and pain relief medications, if applicable, according to the treating physician’s instructions. • Encouraging breastfeeding and providing the necessary support and guidance. • Health education for the mother regarding proper postnatal nutrition, including encouraging the intake of protein-rich foods and vitamin C to support wound healing, adequate fluid intake, and encouraging walking and light exercises after delivery, following consultation with the attending physician. • Personal hygiene care. Newborn Care: • Cleaning and care of the newborn’s umbilical cord. • Guidance on basic newborn care during the postpartum period. Service Providers: • Specialized postnatal nurses in postpartum care. • A specialized physician to provide consultation during the visit through telemedicine. Service Duration: One hour Service Availability: Riyadh only
